Cheese, bacon and tomato sauce “Snails”

All ingredients
  •  2 balls of frozen pizza dough
  •  1 kg tomatoes
  •  3 garlic cloves
  •  1kg Hochland Cagliata in pellets
  •  150g bacon
  •  1 tsp dried oregano

Recipe step by step

  • 1. thaw the pizza dough
  • 2. wash the tomatoes and dice them, chop the garlic, fry them in hot oil, then add the tomatoes, fry for about 15 minutes
  • 3. join two balls of dough, knead them and roll to make it oval
  • 4. sprinkle the dough with flour and turn over
  • 5. spread the cooled sauce on the dough, then sprinkle with a layer of granulated Cagliata cheese
  • 6. cut the bacon into small cubes and sprinkle evenly on the dough
  • 7. roll the dough with the filling tightly
  • 8. cut the roll into 2.5 cm “snails”
  • 9. lay each portion of dough flat and level the shape with your hand
  • 10. place 10 “snails” on a baking tray lined with baking paper
  • 11. bake for 10 minutes at 220°C
  • 12. serve hot as an addition to a soup or serve cold as a snack for beer or as salad bread
  • 13. you can heat previously baked “snails” for 2-3 minutes in the oven, sprinkling them with an additional portion of cheese
